ISABC Newcomer’s Program

Purpose/Overview: 
The ISABC Newcomer’s Program aims to provide newly qualified teachers with collaboration opportunities and a supportive network. The program will include professional learning during 2 in-person sessions, 2 virtual sessions and monthly connection with a mentor to ensure continued support throughout the year.  The program will complement in-school programming and meet specific needs of new educators.  This program will provide a space for teachers to engage and learn about the association and connect and collaborate with other ISABC community members.

Participants:
The ISABC Newcomer program is for newly qualified teachers (in their first 3 years of teaching).

Mentors:
If you are interested in becoming a mentor please view the Mentor Information Document and use the link in the document to register to become a mentor.

Cost:
The cost to participate in the program is $150 per teacher.  There is no cost for mentors. Schools will be invoiced once teachers have confirmed their registration in the program.  

Requirements/Schedule:
In addition to attending the following meetings, you are required to connect with your mentor (who will be assigned to you) on a monthly basis and schedule a date to meet your mentor at their school to have a tour and a date to invite your mentor to your school.

  1. Opening Full Day Session:  Monday September 16th, 2024: York House School
  2. Virtual Session: Tuesday, November 26th, 2024: 3:30pm – 5:00pm
  3. Virtual Session: Tuesday, February 4th, 2025: 3:30pm – 5:00pm
  4. Closing Half Day Session: Thursday, April 3rd, 2025: Venue to be determined


How to Apply:
To apply please complete this Application Form. Please note endorsement from your Principal/Supervisor is required to submit your application.  Please ensure you are able to attend the 2 in-person sessions and the 2 virtual sessions before submitting your application.
