We are looking for an experienced Math Teacher to join our Morven campus (grades 8-12). The ideal candidate will be a passionate and committed educator who will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the many facets of school life, which will include coaching and other extra-curricular responsibilities. This is a Temporary Contract position until June 27, 2025.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver the core math program requirements and beyond, following the BC Ministry of Education curriculum and/or Advanced Placement
- Provide differentiated lessons to meet the needs of all students within a rigorous, engaging, and collaborative learning environment
- Collaborate with other members of faculty to design innovative lessons, units, and a variety of types of assessments
- Assess and report out on student academic progress and work habits, noting achievement and areas of growth with respect to the core and curricular competencies
- Develop skills, including critical thinking skills, and strategies required to conduct research and inquiry and communicate findings accurately and effectively
- Apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes acquired through the study of math to a variety of learning tasks and relate them to real-world phenomena
- Work with students outside of classroom hours for tutorial support
- Support our Academic and Community FLEX programming
- Lead a co-curricular in one of our 4 strands: Arts, Athletics, Academics and Service
- Act as a mentor to students in the role of Advisor Teacher or Homeroom Teacher, as assigned, including providing support, understanding and counseling to students and reporting regularly to parents and guardians (as applicable) regarding student progress
Required qualifications
- Bachelor of Education, with undergraduate studies in Math
- Experience teaching the BC Ministry Math curriculum at the secondary level
- BC Teaching Certification
- Basic First Aid
- Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada
Preferred qualifications and experiences
- Proven experience in competency-based learning and assessment practices, or a willingness to learn
- Committed to continue learning and improving teaching practice
- Passionate about inspiring students to engage with authentic real-world problems
- Driven to take risks in the development of new pedagogical and assessment practices

The current faculty grid salary range for this position is $73,845 to $109,969 based on years of experience and a Bachelor of Education. Faculty with a Masters will be paid at a higher range.
