 Temporary, Full-Time for 8 weeks, (Starting on February, 13th, 2025)

Mulgrave is an International Baccalaureate Continuum school offering the PYP (PK-Grade 5), MYP (Grades 6-10) and DP (Grades 11-12). As an IB school, language learning is a core element of our educational program, and all students study at least one language in addition to English, starting in PK. Students are encouraged and supported to achieve a high level of proficiency by dedicated language teachers working in a collegial and well-resourced teaching environment. We are now seeking applicants for the role of Individuals and Societies (Humanities) Teacher Grade 6 & 7

Job Summary:

A member of the Middle School Division this role will be responsible for teaching Individuals and Societies (Humanities). The appointed person will be a passionate, inspiring and a skilled teacher who will be well-qualified and experienced. This individual will also fulfill the role of being a Co-Teacher Advisor.

Position Responsibilities:

Including but not limited to the following:

  • Planning, teaching and assessing Individuals and Societies (Humanities) in the middle school 
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
  • Manage student behaviour in the classroom by modeling the values of the school and establishing effective classroom procedures
  • Perform certain pastoral duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement

  • Design, prepare and deliver learning activities that facilitate authentic engagement
  • Identify and select instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs 
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress for the purposes of teaching, learning and reporting
  • Model respectful and timely communication with students, colleagues and parents

Required Qualifications:

  • Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • All of the requirements and certifications to teach in BC.
  • Hold an age appropriate First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience teaching in a technology rich environment.
  • Endorse and model the school’s mission and vision statement.

Preferred Experience and Qualities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of International Baccalaureate programmes, especially the Middle Years and DP Programmes
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Compensation:

The base annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of $70,000.00 – $119,000.00. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
