We are seeking a Grade 7 Homeroom and STEM teacher to join our Wentworth campus (Grades JK -7). The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and engaging educator who will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the many facets of school life, which will include coaching and extra-curricular responsibilities. This position is a Temporary Contract position from August 22, 2025 to June 30, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver a Science, Mathematics, ADST and Social-Emotional Learning curriculum aligned with the BC Ministry of Education
  • Establish a respectful and safe learning environment for all students
  • Collaborate with other members of faculty within the grade team and school to create innovative lessons and units that embrace the universal design for learning framework
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all students while creating a rigorous learning environment
  • Build collaborative and effective relationships with students, staff, parents and the community
  • Attend professional development to continuously learn and improve teaching practice with an emphasis on personal and social development, critical and creative thinking skills, communication and effective assessment
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to Collingwood School, the students, their families, and staff
  • Acting as a mentor to students as assigned, including providing support, understanding and counseling to students and reporting regularly to parents and guardians (as applicable) regarding student progress

Required qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree, preferably in Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or the equivalent
  • Experience as a homeroom teacher or equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of early adolescent development, particularly the middle school years
  • Ability to build collaborative and effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • A passion for Science, Mathematics and Design and Technology and experience teaching in this area at an elementary level
  • A passion for ongoing learning and professional development
  • BC Teaching Certification
  • Basic First Aid
  • Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada

The current faculty grid annual salary range for this position is $73,845 to $109,969 based on years of experience and a Bachelor of Education. Faculty with a Masters will be paid at a higher range.
