Early Years Associate Teacher

Permanent, Full-Time (starting August 2025)

Mulgrave is one of Canada’s leading independent co-educational pre-K – 12 day schools, serving the North Shore of Vancouver. We are an established IB Continuum World School with a reputation for excellence and innovation. We are now seeking an Early Years Associate Teacher to start in August 2025.

Reporting to the Early Years Principal, the Early Years Associate Teacher will be open-minded, flexible, and collaborative. Embracing the school’s mission and values and fostering an inclusive learning space are vital aspects of the role.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

These may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work collaboratively with teaching colleagues to assist in running a PK4 or PK3 classroom
  • Plan some activities/lessons for the class
  • Follow the numeracy and literacy programme
  • Participate in collaborative planning with faculty
  • Use technology (as one method) to record notes or actions of the students
  • Assist with formative and summative assessments, and report cards
  • Assist with conferences for parents when required as per the published calendar
  • Be available to meet parents when requested, alongside the classroom teachers
  • Cover after-school care duties until 4:30 pm

General

  • Endorse and follow the Early Years Essential Agreements 
  • Endorse the school’s mission and vision statement
  • Endorse the partnership and strong communication skills with parents
    Participate in school wide professional inquiry and school wide review groups
  • Provide professional support to colleagues
  • Ensure smooth completion of daily operations in a safe environment for all
  • Be available to assess applicant children on published assessment days 
  • Assist with children who may show signs of separation anxiety
  • Participate in Early Years events outside working hours as per published calendar
  • Be open minded, willing to work with initiative, and an advocate of team play

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a current ECE certification
  • Hold a current age appropriate First Aid Certificate
  • Canadian residency and be legally entitled to work in Canada

Expectations:

  • Commit to the school’s leadership values and the guidelines
  • Willing to participate in school wide professional development and Early Years professional development opportunities, and to attend staff meetings
  • Flexibility, open minded, willing to work with initiative and an advocate of team play 
  • A professional demeanour, and an interest in professional growth
  • A clear understanding that working hours may occasionally require extending beyond the norm from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with half an hour for lunch
