We are looking for a Lunch Program Coordinator to manage the lunch program at the Junior School Wentworth Campus (JK-7). This role reports to the Director of Events and Food Services and works closely with the students, families and parent volunteers. This is a Part Time Permanent position, for 30 hours a week, from 9am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday when students are in session.
Responsibilities
- Set up the Wentworth (Junior School) lunch program for the start of each term (3)
- Coordinate communications with Collingwood families and Wentworth staff
- Manage and monitor the lunch program, including placing orders with suppliers and running reports.
- Ensure payments are received and processed properly; deal with any outstanding payments
- Liaise with parents on any issues of concern
- Process supplier invoices in a timely manner
- Liaise with Parent Volunteer Coordinators to set schedules and number of volunteers required
- Be on site during the lunch days/hours to ensure deliveries are made correctly and on time (delivering to the various classrooms), with the assistance of volunteers
- Monitor quality control, including ensuring safe holding temperatures are maintained, and quality of product is consistent and complies with government guidelines
- Communicate regularly with suppliers on any concerns or changes that may be required; troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Solicit feedback from students, teachers, parents, volunteers and suppliers to ensure the program is meeting the needs of our diverse community, meets high standards consistent with our school, and suggest/make changes as needed.
- Consider/source other potential suppliers for future terms
- Oversee and maintain equipment needs to run the program successfully
- Update School website with current lunch program information
- Coordinate staff lunch programs, as required
- Place weekly orders with Thirst First for coffee, tea, dairy and other related supplies for the Wentworth campus
- Maintain and stock staff coffee areas as needed
- Liaise with Thirst First representative as necessary for equipment maintenance and supply issues
- Occasionally assist with set up of any catering as necessary (outside of the lunch service times)
- Work with the Director of Events and Food Services on sustainability processes and goals
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 1-year experience working in food services
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, while using tact and discretion
- Highly organized
- Proficiency in computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Office as well as Munch-a-Lunch ordering system an asset)
- Food Safe level 1 Certification (can be obtained once hired)
- Strategic, tactical, resourceful and have the ability to problem solve
- Work effectively under pressure
- Ability to move quickly to pack and deliver lunches across the campus
- Ability to work independently, and alongside parent volunteers
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada
