Middle School 

1-Year Term, Part-Time (0.6 FTE) starting September 1, 2025

The Position: 

The Middle School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Personal Counselor who cares deeply about the welfare of our students, works collaboratively with a professional team of educators, and is committed to our educational philosophy. 

 

The successful candidate will have the following skills and abilities: 

Excellent counselling skills. 
Comprehensive understanding of Counselling Theories. 
Case management skills. 
Ability to work collaboratively as a part of a high functioning team. 
Strong communication skills both verbal and written. 
Excellent interpersonal skills. 
Evidence of excellent record keeping skills. 
Strong sense of student advocacy. 
Crisis management skills. 
Strong commitment to ongoing professional learning. 
Growth mindset and ability to offer and receive professional feedback. 
Commitment to pastoral care and to delivering high quality education through a holistic lens. 
Consistent and professional communication with students, faculty and parents. 
Liaising with teaching faculty, parents and administration as an advocate for students. 
Practicing professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection and continuous improvement. 

 

Qualifications: 

A Masters Degree in Counselling. 
Minimum of 5 years’ experience Counselling, preferably in a school setting. 
A solid understanding of the emotional and social development of youth. 
Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with adolescents. 
Proven ability in working effectively with teachers and parents. 
A valid BC Teaching Certificate or equivalent, preferred. 

 

Salary: 

Annual salary range: $44,424 – $71,899 

 

Criminal Record Check: 

Must pass and maintain a clear Solicitor General criminal record check for the purpose of working with children.
