The Facilities team is seeking a safety-conscious Bus Driver with a valid Class 4 driver’s license and experience operating a school bus or multi-function activity bus to drive our new 24-seat electric vehicle. This team member will be responsible for transporting students to and from various athletic events.

When not driving, this role will serve as a Facilities Assistant, supporting a range of tasks such as routine and preventive maintenance (painting, general repairs, plumbing, moving equipment etc.). Additionally, this role will support security and emergency preparedness, assist with special events or projects, and respond to maintenance requests from employees.

Start and end times will vary depending on the operational needs of the role; however, the successful individual can expect to work 40 hours per week and occasionally have to work on weekends.

Responsibilities:

• Vehicle inspection per Transport Canada guidelines
• Maintain vehicle charging using our on-campus charger and public charging stations as required
• Transport students to and from school in the mornings and afternoons and as required to and from school to attend events or activities
• Maintain a clean and mechanically-sound bus at all times
• Follow all traffic laws, school policies, and transportation regulations
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle (checking the bus tires, lights, and other basic maintenance)
• Assist students with getting on and off the bus when required
• Pickup and drop off students at designated locations
• Follow a planned route on a time schedule
• Ensure students stay in their seats and use seat belts at all times
• Keep passengers informed of possible delays
• Listen to alerts about bad weather
• Carefully navigate roads and watch for ice, debris, or slippery spots
• Report accidents immediately

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• High school diploma or GED
• Current and valid Bus driving license class 4
• Clean drivers abstract
• Air brake endorsement (on highway)
• Previous bus driving experience required
• Knowledge of health & safety regulations
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs
• Able to work a variable schedule as needed
• Work collaboratively with all members of the CHS community
• Demonstrated polite and respectful interactions with all school community members
• English language comprehension level for effective verbal and written communication
• Self-motivated team player with proven organizational and time management skills
• Proven ability to adapt quickly to varying assignments
• Effective communicator with demonstrated high degree of accuracy and the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment

Employment and Application Details: 

This role is scheduled to start immediately.  

Employees of Crofton House School receive competitive compensation and support for professional, educational and leadership development. Employees are entitled to three weeks paid vacation plus 18 Admin Days (paid days off when the School is closed). Compensation: $52,000 – $58,000 based on experience
