West Point Grey Academy is seeking a Junior School Physical Education Teacher beginning August 25, 2025. This is a permanent, full-time position that is eligible for benefits.

Our PE Teachers are a valued members of our Junior School community who, with the support of the school leadership and teaching teams, provides future-focused, engaging program delivery and a warm, supportive learning environment to their class of learners. The Junior School PE Teacher plays an important role in developing physical literacy skills and practices that promote health and well-being for students in Junior Kindergarten through to Grade 7. Teachers with backgrounds and enthusiasm for coaching are encouraged to apply.

In your first year at WPGA, you’ll be directly involved in:

Teaching 

  • Preparing and delivering engaging, future-focused lesson plans and interactive learning activities/materials that follow BC curriculum guidelines for Physical Health Education.
  • Coaching various school teams (assigned with a view to past experience)
  • Collaborating with grade-level colleagues and homeroom teachers to provide optimum learning experiences in all areas of instructional programming.
  • Creating a safe and inclusive classroom with routines that increase and enhance engagement.
  • Differentiating learning to address all needs in the class.
  • Utilizing a variety of assessment methods to perpetuate growth and demonstrate learning, including student reflection, student-led conferences, learning updates, and summaries,
  • Supporting students and families with open, ongoing communication.
  • Integrating curriculum and helping students make positive connections.
  • Creating a positive learning environment that helps each child achieve their personal best.
  • Giving students opportunities to try new things and grow in developing their confidence.

Co-Curricular Involvement

  • Modelling and promoting our core values and high standards of behaviour in and out of the classroom.
  • Participating in school life and co-curricular activities by coaching a sport and sponsoring a club.

Growing as a Professional

  • Actively participating in faculty meetings.
  • Seeking opportunities for collaboration.
  • Participating in professional development by reading and attending courses, seminars, and other professional-development opportunities, and sharing learnings from professional literature

Founded in 1996, West Point Grey Academy is an independent co-educational day school in Vancouver, British Columbia. Set on 18 acres with sweeping views of English Bay and the North Shore mountains, we offer future-focused programs to 940 students in junior kindergarten to grade 12.
