Brockton School is a nondenominational coeducational Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12, independent school, located in North Vancouver, British Columbia. The following position is available for expressions of interest:

Grade 3 Homeroom Teacher – Full Time  (1.0 FTE)

November 25, 2024 – June 30, 2025 with potential to extend through June 2026

Brockton School is currently seeking a Junior School Homeroom Teacher for Grade 3 for the late November – June period of the 2024-25 school year. The Teacher will work collaboratively with a teaching partner, with members of the JK-Grade 5 PYP team, and with other members of Faculty/Staff. As a member of the teaching team, this teacher will report to the Divisional Director and to the PYP Coordinator.

The Grade 3 Homeroom Teacher will work with colleagues including but not limited to specialist teachers and counsellors, IB Coordinators, and other key members of staff. 

 

Qualifications / Experience / Skills: 

  • BC Teacher Certification as supported by the BC Teachers Regulation Branch 
  • Interest in being part of a dynamic and visionary IB school community 

Ideal characteristics: 

  • BC Teacher Certification
  • IB experience or training (preferred)
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in education
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience at the primary years level
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High EQ skills, possess the ability to be self-aware
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and administrative skills
  • The ability to work independently and as a collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Brings different perspectives, voices, and worldviews to the classroom learning experience, including those of Indigenous, local, and global populations
  • Promotes a safe and inclusive environment through strong relationship building and classroom management
  • Plans, organizes, and implements engaging lessons that incorporates the BC Ministry of Education’s curriculum objectives as well as IB standards
  • Organize curriculum mapping and lesson planning, using the tool Toddle
  • Fosters a love of learning and an environment that that encourages all students to develop and fulfill their academic potential
  • Tracks assessment and feedback through use of formative and summative methods, includes student reflections and voice when targeting growth and development
  • Regular communication with parents and other stakeholders regarding student progress, including but not limited to, meetings, report cards, conferences, and weekly class emails
  • Collaborates with teaching partner(s) and the PYP coordinator
    Attends staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and serves on committees as required
  • Involvement in extended day programming activities
  • Models behaviours, attitudes, and principals for students in all contexts
  • Other duties as assigned by the divisional Principal

Salary Range:  Brockton 2024-25 Faculty Salary Grid
