About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and empathetic yet resolute leader to join our team as the Deputy Head of School – Campus Life. Reporting to the Head of School, this role provides strategic leadership for all non-academic aspects of student life, ensuring a vibrant, engaging, and inclusive school community. The Deputy Head of School – Campus Life oversees student engagement, discipline, boarding curriculum, student leadership, health and wellness, and campus safety while collaborating with key school leaders to integrate student life programming with academic and extracurricular activities. This role is pivotal in shaping a thriving campus culture, ensuring that students experience a safe, supportive, and enriching environment that aligns with the school’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

The Deputy Head of School – Campus Life plays a central role in fostering a positive and engaging student experience. This includes leading student life initiatives, setting the tone for campus culture, and ensuring that student engagement programs align with the school’s values. Collaboration is key in this role, as the role works closely with the Deputy Head of School – Academics, Director of Athletics, and Director of Arts to integrate extracurricular programs that support student development. This position also oversees student leadership programs, providing opportunities for students to grow and contribute to their community.

Student discipline and the boarding curriculum are essential areas of focus, requiring a thoughtful approach to managing student behavior while creating a residential program that supports growth and well-being. Additionally, the Director of Campus Life plays a vital role in student health and wellness, working with the Health Centre team to ensure students have access to the support they need. Campus operations and safety also fall under this role’s leadership, including overseeing the school calendar, emergency procedures, and faculty advisor programs. Education & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, Student Affairs, Psychology, Leadership, Social Work, or a related field is required – a master’s in education leadership desirable
  • 5+ years of experience in student affairs, residential life, or a leadership role in an independent or boarding school setting is desirable
  • Experience in student engagement, leadership programming, and community-building within a school environment
  • Strong background in student discipline, conflict resolution, and restorative practices
  • Demonstrated success in program development and implementation for student life initiatives
  • Familiarity with boarding school culture and residential life programming is highly desirable
  • Proven leadership in managing teams, supervising staff, and working with diverse student population
