Job Description Title: Library Technician
Status: Full-time, permanent
Start Date: August 21, 2025
Scope of Role
Under the guidance and supervision of the Head Teacher Librarian, the Library Technician is responsible for managing and maintaining all aspects of the library. They will contribute to the school’s culture by fostering an inclusive and engaging environment, ensuring that all Meadowridge School students experience a sense of belonging, active participation, and meaningful learning-supporting our mission in “Learning to live well, with others and for others, in a just community.”
Duties and Responsibilities
· Process all new materials for circulation
· Catalogue new items and maintains item records
· Shelve and maintain collection following the Dewey Decimal System
· Circulate, monitor, and repair all library items
· Support students and teachers in finding information and materials, both in print and online through regular book exchange offered to students
· Perform library inventory
· In collaboration:
o select and weed the library collection
o create book/resource lists to support classroom learning
o create meaningful book displays that reflect the school community and
initiatives
· Supervise students during lunch and after school in the Library
· Process archival materials and special collections according to best practices
· Other duties as assigned
Skills and Attributes
· Ability to work collaboratively with a team
· Skilled in engaging with students from JK to Grade 12
· Strong organization, time management and prioritization skills
· Detail orientated
· Strong research and communication skills, both verbal and written
Qualifications and Experience
· Diploma in Library Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution preferred
· Experience working in a Library Technician role preferred but not required
· Working knowledge of MS Suite, Google, Follett Destiny, Sora
· Coursework in archives or willingness to learn archival practices
This role works all student days plus an additional number of days for orientation and training.
