Position: Director of Student Experiences (JK-12)

Compensation Salary Range $110,000 – $140,000 Based on Experience
Position Overview:
Aspengrove School, a JK-12 International Baccalaureate School, is inviting applications from passionate, enthusiastic individuals for the role of Director of Student Experiences. Aspengrove is entering its 3rd decade as an independent school and has identified Exceptional Experiences as a pillar of its Next Steps Strategic Plan. This position will support the vision of the school by expanding and establishing programs that will add vitality, engagement, and belonging to the Aspengrove community.
The Director of Student Experiences is responsible for managing and leading all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services that support students’ educational experience and personal / social growth. This position will nurture a culture of student engagement, purpose and belonging through the development of character that is caring, respectful, proactive, disciplined and determined. At Aspengrove School Student Experiences represents the programs, expectations, standards and supports necessary so that every student has the best possible opportunity to achieve their personal best inside
and outside of the classroom.
Roles and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include:
- Overseeing and supporting co-curricular programming, clubs and activities
- Identifying, creating and communicating student opportunities and expectations for out of class time (before school, recess, lunch, after school)
- Supervise, develop, expand, and lead the Peak Performers program for elite artists and athletes
- Expanding and coordinating the student House system
- Leading Student Council, including expanding the school’s leadership programs
- Ensuring all students are engaged, at their age and stage, in the Experiences of the school
- Supporting weekly assemblies and leading/coordinating special event assemblies
- Oversee University Counselling and Pathways Program to ensure all students from Grades 8 through 12 have dedicated, personalized University and Career support
- Initiate, lead, and develop the Outdoor Education program for Grades 3 – 10
- Leading pro-social, anti-bullying, and anti-racism programs through advisory and/or homeroom
- Establishing a service program that allows students to develop agency and impact in our Aspengrove community and beyond
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to enhance the overall student experience
Required Knowledge and Skills
The qualities of the successful candidate include:
- Clear vision and understanding of Student Experiences and student engagement
- A self-starter and motivated professional
- Ability to communicate clearly in a timely manner
- Can explore new ideas and opportunities
- Strong organizer and time management skills to meet diverse deadlines and manage a large portfolio
- Proven track record in managing performance, accountability and delivering results
- Has the desire to create a world-class student Experiences program
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education
- Master’s Degree (or higher)
- Proven track record of leading student programs
- Teaching certificate for British Columbia
Criminal Record Check
Must pass and maintain a clear criminal record check for the purposes of working with children
