Senior Grades Math, Chemistry, and Physics Tutor

While prior teaching or educational support experience is preferred, we also welcome applications from passionate recent graduates or those studying for their degrees or master’s who have the necessary skills to teach, coach, and support students in reaching their full potential.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one academic support to students in Math, Chemistry, and Physics.
Assist students with homework, assignments, and test preparation to reinforce their understanding of key concepts.
Monitor and track student progress, offering regular feedback to both parents and the Post-Secondary Counsellor.
Adapt tutoring methods to suit different learning styles and ensure effective progress for each student.
Create a respectful, supportive, and motivating learning environment.
Serve as a positive role model, inspiring students to build confidence and foster a lifelong love of learning.

Qualifications:

An effective tutor can come from various academic and professional backgrounds. The key to success in this role lies in your ability to connect with students, communicate clearly, and help them reach their potential. In addition to strong subject and academic knowledge, an effective tutor must:

Demonstrate strong subject knowledge in Math, Chemistry, and Physics.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in simple, engaging ways.
Be patient and empathetic, adjusting your teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles.
Exhibit a genuine enthusiasm for education, with a passion for helping students succeed and grow.
Be organized and proactive, able to track progress and provide constructive feedback.
Have the ability to inspire confidence in students, building their self-esteem and academic abilities.
Work effectively in a collaborative environment, valuing diverse perspectives and input from colleagues and parents.
Knowledge of BC curriculum is a strong advantage
