Glenlyon Norfolk School (GNS) is a co-ed independent JK to Grade 12 International Baccalaureate and Round Square day and boarding school located on two campuses in Victoria, BC, Canada. Senior Building Maintenance Worker

Permanent, full-time position

Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Start: Immediate

 

Position Overview:

The Senior Building Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing general repairs and preventative maintenance on School facilities, furniture and equipment and for the general upkeep of the Pemberton Woods, Beach Drive and Gryphon House locations. You will also be required to carry out maintenance to nine residential properties owned by GNS that are currently tenanted.  Demonstrating initiative and pride in performance, this role builds strong professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders and delivers exceptional customer service. Your proven skillset as a carpenter or general contractor will allow you to mentor and train less experienced colleagues.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for a candidate with at least five years of experience in carpentry or general contracting, preferably in an institutional environment or commercial setting. Certification or coursework related to a trade or trades is desirable, however, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. You will have a strong mechanical aptitude and be driven to produce high-quality work both independently and as part of a team. General knowledge of multiple trades and experience in the use of hand and power tools required for routine maintenance is necessary. Candidates must have the ability to perform physically demanding work and lift/carry heavy objects using safe practices. A valid BC driver’s license is also required.

Compensation range is $65,000 – $72,000 depending on experience.
