The SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) Committee at Stratford Hall invites all members of the ISABC community to join Steve Mulligan, a SOGI UBC Educator, for a webinar on how to support SOGI-inclusive education at home. Research conducted by Dr. Elizabeth Saewyc (UBC School of Nursing 2016) concluded that the wellbeing of LGBTQ2S+ youth is greatly enhanced when they experience safe and supportive schools and families.
In this hour-long presentation, Steve will review terminology and concepts associated with SOGI, introduce research from both Dr. Elizabeth Saewyc and others that show how supportive families are key to supporting LGBTQ2S+ education, and provide important tips and strategies to help you to be open and comfortable having these conversations with your children. The session will follow up with a Q&A.
