Urban Academy’s licensed Out Of School Care (OOSC) Program offers reliable care for students from JK to 12-year-olds when school is not in session. The program includes only Urban Academy Students and focuses on social skills development, cooperation, participation, and fun! OOSC creates a safe, welcoming, respectful experience for students and implements all UA policies and procedures to ensure smooth operations.
The Summer OOSC Program operates out of the Urban Academy facility and runs like a day camp, including off-site excursions with children. During holiday periods (Winter, Spring, and Summer breaks), the program offers full-day care from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Urban Academy is hiring a full-time OOSC staff member to assist in running the Summer OOSC program from June 30 to August 29, 2025.
The person hired for this position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of our Summer OOSC, maintaining required documentation, and collaborating to plan activities and field trips.
The successful applicant will be a self-starter who is motivated, organized, dedicated and capable of creating a positive sense of belonging for all students.
As an Out of School Care Staff, your responsibilities include:
- Follow and uphold the BC Child Care Licensing Rules
Closely monitor and engage with students - Co-plan daily activities with the ECE manager
- Execute daily activities and excursions
- Addresses and resolves student and/or parent concerns
- Maintain ongoing communication with parents
- Record accidents and incidents appropriately and email the ECE manager and Junior School Principal.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- An excellent rapport with children
- Have related experience working in a school/camp setting
- Track record of excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience in using technology for documentation and communication,
- Current Safety Awareness & First Aid for Childhood Emergencies Certificate
- Clear Criminal Records Check
- Responsible Adult certificate
- ECE certificate (preferred)
Compensation:
Hourly compensation range: $21.65- $24.65 based on experience.
