We are looking for an exceptional, experienced Social Studies Teacher with a specialty in AP Economics to join our Morven Campus (Grades 8-12). Both engaging and innovative, the candidate is a collaborative educator who demonstrates excellence in instructional and assessment practices and who is committed to ongoing professional growth. The candidate will contribute to the many facets of school life, which will include coaching and extra-curricular responsibilities. This is a Permanent Full Time position that will start August 22, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Teach AP Macro and Micro Economics.  Both courses are taught consecutively as one.
  • Deliver engaging and rigorous Social Studies instruction that meets or exceeds curriculum standards.
  • Foster a dynamic learning environment that supports and challenges individual learners.
  • Along with AP Economics, teach Middle and Senior Social Studies and Humanities classes, with specific course assignments to be determined.
  • Collaborate in the design, planning, and instruction of specialized courses that highlight diverse perspectives and histories.
  • Create an inclusive and engaging classroom that offers students multiple pathways to demonstrate their learning.
  • Commit to ongoing professional growth, embracing innovative pedagogical and assessment practices.

Required qualifications 

  • Bachelor of Education
  • Experience teaching AP Economics or another related AP class. 
  • Additionally, experience teaching Social Studies and implementing Historical Thinking Skills at the high school level is also valuable.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Certified (or in the process of becoming certified) by the British Columbia Ministry of Education
  • Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada

The current 2024-25 faculty grid annual salary range for this position is $73,845 to $109,969 based on years of experience and a Bachelor of Education. Faculty with a Masters will be paid at a higher range.
