English Teacher 2025 – 2026 Academic Year
Located in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, Brentwood College School is committed to making our school the best place to learn and work. As one of the top boarding high schools in North America, we offer a vibrant culture, competitive compensation, a diverse student body, and an absolutely stunning oceanfront campus. Our Admissions motto is #choosetobe and this applies to our faculty as well.
Your Opportunity:
Do you thrive in a dynamic learning environment? Are you accredited or eligible for accreditation to teach in the Province of British Columbia? Brentwood College School is seeking a passionate and innovative part-time English teacher (0.8 FTE) to teach three classes. The ability to teach AP Literature would be an asset. Beyond the classroom, you will contribute to the school’s vibrant co-curricular programs, including Model United Nations, Debate, Arts, Music, or Athletics.
You will be joining a team of dedicated educators who support a positive student learning experience—whether in the classroom, on stage, in athletic venues, or within our boarding community. At Brentwood, students are deeply engaged in their academics, making an impact in the arts, and competing proudly as part of our athletic teams—all while living away from home. If you’re looking to be part of a school that fosters curiosity, creativity, and a strong sense of community, Brentwood could be the right fit for you.
Working at Brentwood is not like working at a typical school. Because we have more than 80% of our students as boarders, we take on the duty and privilege of creating a home away from home. We have a tripartite system, where academics, arts, and athletics are all valued and an expectation for all students. Our unique schedule running six days per week allows for more options for our students, meaning more options for our faculty.
Your Qualifications and Experience:
● B.Ed or equivalent degree with ability to be certified to teach in BC
● Post-graduate degree considered an asset
● Familiarity with Grade 9 -12 BC Advanced Placement curriculum if applicable
● Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning
● Ability to coach/instruct debate, basketball or field hockey considered a strong asset
