King David High School is a pluralistic, community, and co-educational Jewish high school in the Oakridge district of Vancouver with 270 Students. The school, initially known as Maimonides Secondary School, opened in 1987 with nine students in Grade 8. In 2005, spearheaded by the vision and philanthropy of the Diamond Foundation, King David High School opened the doors to its new facility.
King David is the largest Jewish high school west of Winnipeg. The unique feature of King David High School is its dynamic, integrated – general and Judaic studies – dual curriculum. Throughout its history, King David has developed leaders who now play important roles in supporting both the local and global communities.

THE OPPORTUNITY: DEPUTY HEAD OF SCHOOL
King David High School is seeking an experienced and visionary educational leader to serve as the Deputy Head of School (DHS). King David is looking for a candidate with a proven track record of innovation in education, an unwavering commitment to student-centered learning, and a strategic mindset focused on advancing the mission and vision of the school.
The DHS is the second point of authority, responsibility, and reference after the Head of School. Regular liaison takes place between the Head of School and the DHS about all matters concerned with the smooth and efficient running of the School. The DHS will co-develop and implement the policies, procedures, mission, and vision of the school, including administrative, management, and supervisory duties.

Key Responsibilities:
· Strategic Leadership: Partner with the Head of School to provide visionary leadership in operational efficiency and institutional growth;
· Academic Oversight: Partner with the Director of Teaching and Learning to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and teaching practices that are innovative, rigorous, and aligned with best practices;
· Faculty Development: Lead initiatives for recruiting, mentoring, and professional development of faculty and staff, ensuring that the school attracts and retains top-tier talent;
· Student Well-being and Engagement: Foster a positive, inclusive school culture where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally;
· Accreditation and Compliance Oversight: Lead and manage the school’s accreditation process, ensuring adherence to CAIS and ISABC standards and Ministry of Education regulations, while preparing for and overseeing inspections and evaluations;
· Community Engagement: Strengthen relationships with all stakeholders, including students, parents, alumni, and the broader community, promoting the school’s values and vision;
· Operational Management: oversee day-to-day school operations in collaboration with senior leadership to ensure the smooth functioning of all academic and administrative systems;
· Strategic Initiatives: Lead or support major school projects and initiatives, including accreditation processes, long-term planning, and community partnerships; and
· Creating a Positive Learning Environment: Uphold the school’s values and policies to ensure students are committing to a positive school climate.
THE PERSON:
The ideal Deputy Head of School will bring extensive experience in secondary school leadership, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and an ability to inspire and collaborate with a diverse community of students, parents, faculty, and staff. Possessing an inclusive and transparent leadership style, they build engagement by creating a true team environment, leveraging the considerable expertise and strengths that exist across King David. They should be comfortable working at both the hands-on and strategic levels, possessing sufficient administrative and pedagogical acumen to effectively steward the School’s resources and educational direction. The DHS should be decisive, and possess policy, systems, and planning expertise to assist King David with complex decision-making, as well as guiding staff through challenging initiatives.
Professional and Personal Qualifications:
· Master’s degree (or higher) in Education or Educational Leadership;
· Valid BC Teaching Certification (or eligibility) with 10+ years of teaching experience;
· 7+ years of high school leadership experience within independent or exceptional academic institutions, including senior administrative responsibilities;
· Utilizing data and research to inform instructional practices, possesses a proven track record of fostering a student-centered learning environment and an outstanding school culture;
· Experience in strategic planning, risk management, and policy development;
· Expertise in faculty mentorship and development with a commitment to nurturing a positive, collegial, collaborative, and growth-oriented team;
· Strong understanding of current and best educational practices, with a focus on innovation and student-centered learning;
· Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences, including students, faculty, staff, and parents;
· A passion for fostering inclusivity in all aspects of school life;
· Well-versed in BC curricular structures, and Ministry Policies and regulations;
· Ability to effectively foster a culture of ongoing learning, continuous improvement, and innovation;
· Ability to lead the school’s Academic Leadership Team;
· Develop collaborative, collegial networks in ISABC and CAIS schools;
· A strong understanding of risk-management and well-developed organizational skills;
· Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and skill development; and
· Warmth, consistency, transparency, an appreciation for the value of community, and a sense of humor.

COMPENSATION:
A compensation package will be provided including an attractive base salary and excellent benefits, including a 9% RSP match. The salary range is $160,000 – $180,000. Further details will be discussed in a personal interview.
