The Role
Starting January 6, 2025 Christ Church Cathedral School is seeking our next Learning Support Teacher who understands and enjoys working with students from primary age through to adolescence supporting them academically, socially and emotionally. This role is essential for building a successful learning journey for our students.
The Learning Support Teacher will:
- Review, create, and implement Competency-based IEPs, Student Support Plans and Behavioural Plans.
- Organize meetings and effectively communicate with the school-based team (teachers, parents, para-professionals).
- Develop appropriate adaptations and/or modifications to curriculum planning and delivery.
- Support school-wide interventions and curriculum planning.
- Provide direct small group and individual literacy and numeracy interventions.
- Create positive behavioural supports and assist in the implementation of interventions.
- Monitor students’ response to interventions (RTI) and adjust programming and resources accordingly.
- Assess foundational numeracy and literacy skills.
The Learning Support Teacher has:
- Valid certification with the BC Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB).
- Bachelor degree in Education, with a specialization in Special Education.
- Successful experience as a Learning Support teacher.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to exhibit good humour, flexibility, enthusiasm, openness, and honesty.
- The ability to collaborate, plan, organize, and contribute to the effectiveness of the school team.
- Positive energy and creates a supportive learning culture.
- Strong capacity to build relationships with teachers, staff, students, and parents.
- Professionalism when dealing with conflict or confidential concerns.
- A willingness to contribute to our extensive extra-curricular programming.
- A willingness to remain current with educational research and exhibit enthusiasm for life long learning.
- The desire to set annual professional goals.
Teacher Compensation:
Our school is committed to providing an encouraging and supportive working environment, with competitive compensation and a substantial benefits package. Compensation for this position will range between $60,645 to $91,595 depending on experience and credentials. Adding to this, the successful candidate will be offered to participate in our RRSP contribution program, and both dental and medical benefits plan.
