Director of Marketing and Communications – Full Time (1.0 FTE)
Brockton School is currently seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications. The Director will work collaboratively with Brockton’s Leadership team, will be a leader within the Advancement team, and will report to the Head of School.
The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of the Brockton Marketing and Communication strategies. The person in this role engages with Brockton staff, students, families and guardians, alumni, friends, and with the community at large.
Responsibilities / Duties:
- Share responsibility in advancing the school’s mission, core values and strategic plan as a member of the senior leadership team.
- Develop, implement, and lead all of the school’s print and digital marketing strategies, communications, and public relations activities. This will be done with the support/partnership of Brockton’s primary external consultant(s) if/as required.
- Advise and support marketing and communications approaches and strategies for admissions/enrollment and community development/fundraising, other areas as may be required (e.g., Human Resources) as well as to the school’s leadership, the Head of School, and the Board of Directors.
- Responsible for the production of commercial-quality Brockton outreach materials such as the admissions prospectus, fundraising brochures, strategic planning documents, and other items as required.
- Assist in determining the need for, and the selection and hiring of, freelance talent, including consultants, writers, photographers, and media outlets.
- Develop and maintain relationships with marketing, design, and printing firms as required and provide them with critical guidance and feedback to ensure desired results.
- Manage and oversee internal and external communications for the school. This includes content development for and oversight of Brockton websites and social media platforms as well as development of weekly Brockton Newsletter and announcements. Responsible for ensuring content is regularly updated, remains relevant and engaging.
- Manage the timing, volume, design and distribution of public-facing assets and other collateral.
- Develop and maintain the school’s brand assets and graphics standards and lead the school in the proper implementation and use of these assets and standards.
- Develop and maintain the marketing and communications budget; work closely with the finance department to ensure timely reconciliation of expenses, budget adjustments, etc.
- Coordinate media interest in the school and maintain regular contact with target media, school associations, and corresponding stakeholders.
- Provide organizational and in-person support to numerous school and community events throughout the school year.
- Stay informed of developments in the fields of marketing, communications, and public relations and seek out appropriate accreditation and certification, both personally and for the school as a whole.
- Coordinate the execution of all mass email messaging to various constituencies.
- Manage crisis communications needs in collaboration with appropriate school leadership.
- Other duties as required.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Marketing or related subject is preferred
- Minimum of three to five years professional experience in communications and marketing roles with a track record of increasing responsibility and success
- Interest in being part of a dynamic and visionary school community
- Excellent writing, editorial, and proofreading skills in a variety of digital mediums
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise others
- Ability to collaborate with various constituencies throughout the school community
- Ability to create content as well as identify and generate creative story ideas
- Ability to digest data and present key findings, using acquired knowledge to inform strategy and implementation
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- General understanding of independent education, philanthropy and school communications
- Proficient with various technology platforms and production software
