Action Research Bursary Program 2020-2021

Info

Event Description:

The ISABC Action Research Bursary program provides funding and personal support for teachers interested in conducting research into their pedagogy and practice. It brings together like-minded teachers keen on workshopping their research and sharing it with a wider audience. The program consists of four taught sessions that will cover all the basics of developing, designing, and sharing a research program. The timeline of the program can be found here.

Past projects have been published in academic, professional, and popular sources or have been used to complement graduate school work. Projects vary widely, including empirical studies examining the effectiveness of pedagogical approaches, whole school studies aimed at fostering and understanding student attitudes, and exploratory inquiries aimed at developing new initiatives (including units, courses, and professional development).

For questions, please contact Travis Fuchs, the Action Research Coordinator (ttf421@mail.harvard.edu), or Elizabeth Moore (elizabeth.moore@isabc.ca).

COVID Modifications
In light of evolving pandemic control measures, meetings, or parts of meetings, may need to be held virtually (over Zoom). In person meetings will be judged based on the comfort and safety of the group as well as the reopening phase as set by the Ministry of Education. That said, if at any time you feel uncomfortable attending a meeting, an alternative option will be provided (e.g., one-to-one virtual conference, recording of meeting shared, or materials sent).
