Event Description: 

Educators: join Ocean Networks Canada (ONC), the Canadian Network for Ocean Education (CaNOE), and the Royal BC Museum (RBCM) for a fun and informative ocean-focused Pro-D-Day. Become acquainted with the growing network advancing ocean literacy in Canada; explore cool, weird and wonderful marine creatures in the Museum's collections; and dive into ONC’s Ocean Sense program to explore learning resources newly created for the BC curriculum that integrate western science with Indigenous place-based knowledge.

Opportunities for ocean education with the RBCM
Who: Formal and informal educators teaching grades K-12.
Description: Discover weird and wonderful creatures in the RBCM’s handling collections and explore the behind the scenes research areas of the museum.
 
Session 2 | August 28th | 5:00-7:00 pm
Reception and CaNOE AGM
Who: Formal and informal educators; members and potential
members of CaNOE.
Description: Network with other educators over refreshments.
Learn more about the Canadian Network for Ocean Education and participate in the Annual General Meeting.

Session 3 | August 29th | 8:30-3:45 pm
ONC and the Ocean Sense program
Who: Formal and informal educators teaching grades K-12;
learning resources are designed for grades 6-10 but can be
adapted for other grades.
Description: Explore educational opportunities with ONC’s Ocean Sense program and try hands-on classroom activities linked with the new BC curriculum.
