2017 Grade 4/5 ISABC Public Speaking Competition
Thank you to all schools who attended this year’s Grade 4/5 Public Speaking Competition. The event was hosted by Stratford Hall School on Friday, April 28th, 2017.
 
73 students from 13 schools in the lower mainland and Vancouver Island participated in the competition. The topic of this year’s Grade 4/5 competition was, “Identify a problem in the world and make a plan of action.” Based on this topic, students extensively researched, wrote and recited nothing short of impressive speeches. Congratulations to all participants on delivering phenomenal and insightful speeches!
 
Below are each grade winners as well as the best overall school title.
 
Grade 4
First Place: Jenna Jaffter, Crofton House School, “Siri-ously”
Second Place: Fraser Williams, Collingwood School, “Buzzkill: Why We Need to Be There for the Bees”
Third Place: Asher Puar, Collingwood School, “Mahatama Ghandi”

Grade 5
First Place: Natasha Manji, Stratford Hall School, “What it is like to be a Muslim?”
Second Place: Amelie Bournival, Meadowridge School, “I Have a Dream!”
Third Place: Thomas Faw, Mulgrave School, “Plastic in our Oceans”
 
The school with the highest average points was Crofton House.
