Crofton House School opened its doors to more than 4,500 people on November 19 when it hosted its annual Crofton House Winter Bazaar, a festival-style event that raises funds to help inner city children in Vancouver. All proceeds are donated to local charity CLICK (Contributing to Lives of Inner City Kids.)

The annual Crofton House Winter Bazaar is the result of months of hard work by volunteers of the Crofton House School Parents’ Auxiliary. Throughout the day there were more than 200 CHS parent, student and staff volunteers contributing to the success of the event.

“Extraordinary community is one of the strategic pillars of our school and the Winter Bazaar is an absolute testament to exactly that. Seeing our parents, students and staff come together, working toward one common goal and for a wonderful cause, was a truly extraordinary experience,” said Tina Barkley, 2016 co-chair of the Crofton House Winter Bazaar. “This event is a tangible example of the values at Crofton House School in terms of our commitment to citizenship both within our school walls and outside in the broader community,” continued the co-chair Kris Dattani.

On behalf of the CHS community, the CHS Parents’ Auxiliary presented a cheque totaling $35,000 to CLICK president Catherine Atyeo at the School’s Monday morning assembly. Accepting the cheque, Atyeo said “By supporting CLICK, the CHS community is making a strong statement that every child counts in Vancouver and deserves the chance to thrive and reach his/her potential. CLICK is deeply grateful to all those who put in long hours to raise this money, which will go directly to programs that help the neediest children in our city”. Once again, the cheque is the largest single donation made to CLICK in its 12-year history.

Visitors to the Winter Bazaar enjoyed everything from arcade-style games and prizes, food trucks, entertainment, a cakewalk and portrait studio, along with a variety of shopping goods including holiday wreaths, homemade jams and gently used fashions, sporting goods, purses and jewellery, books and DVDs, baby and toddler gear, housewares and more.
