Last week on May 11 and 12, the Crofton House Senior School, Junior Tennis team, won the 2017 BC Junior Girls Provincial Championships at the Langley Event Centre and Burnaby Lake.

“Playing at the Junior Provincials was so fun because we got to play continuously throughout the day with different schools from here and the island. It was a great competition and I am very thankful that we won”, said Cate Melenchuck. Charlotte K reiterated her teammate's sentiment, “It was a fun tournament for all teams that participated. Crofton could not have won without the entire team's effort, or without Sherman Kwok's great coaching and support.”

Players on the CHS team included Audrey C., Vanessa K., Cate M., Charlotte K., Carol L., Reilly A. and Matea F. The final score against Brentwood College was 6–0. The team only lost two sets in the whole tournament. Sherman Kwok, CHS tennis coach for 35-years commented “this is the strongest Junior team CHS has ever put together.”

When asked what advice Kwok gave his team, he replied "to always respect your opponent no matter what the score is and: no matter what the score is, stay focused and positive."

The CHS Junior Tennis Team also won the ISAA Championships for a second year in succession.
