This is a wonderful opportunity and is being coordinated by one of our own ISABC students. It embraces fully the BC Core Competencies and engages the skills students need for the future.
On November 23rd and 24th, XdHacks is hostingVancouver’s first high school Hackahton at UBC.
Hackathons typically span 24 hours, giving teams of 4 or 5 students an intensive, immersive experience to code and create a solution based on a real world problem presented as a theme. Hackers will then pitch their product to an experienced panel of judges to compete for prizes. This event is for dreamers, developers, and designers who want a taste of the business world. XdHacks also involves giving students opportunities to meet leading professionals and gain mentorship through product presentation, feedback, and workshops. If you are unable to coordinate a team of 4 or 5, you are still encouraged to sign-up and you will be assigned to a team.
No previous experience is required, but it is highly recommended that each team includes at least one member with programming interest or experience. There will be workshops available for first-time coders and to help with business pitches. Tickets are $10 until November 16th; late registration will cost $15.
