Teaching For Student Success: Engaging the Imagination in Learning and Learning in Depth

Description:

This conference on imagination in education will:
•   show why the imagination should be considered one of the main work-horses of learning
•   highlight the specific features of students’ imaginative lives teachers should consider in their practice
•   use practical examples to illustrate the pedagogical value of imagination in learning
•   demonstrate how to engage students’  and teachers’ imagination in primary through secondary school classrooms and across subject areas
•   support teachers in developing imaginative lessons for their students
•   introduce a new program that will engage students in learning something in depth

The Imaginative Education Research Group at SFU will highlight some of the features of its work that have proven very successful in engaging students’ imaginations in learning, (and teachers’ imaginations in teaching). The results have led to greater satisfaction for students and teachers and much improved test scores across the board.
