Scheduling for Administrators - St George's School

Start: Aug 30 2012 - 9:00pm
End: Aug 30 2012 - 9:00pm

Description:

Schedule the students? But what about me?

St. George’s School, in conjunction with ISM® Independent School Management, is pleased to host a one-day workshop for administrators and school faculty who are trying to manage scheduling in a 21st century learning environment.

The Focus of the Conference

The 21st century school is student-centered. Hasn’t it always been that way? The interesting thing about the 20th century school schedule is how much it was dominated by the needs of adults.

Join Simon Jeynes, ISM consultant, for a conversation about the different divisions, their characteristics, some essentials of scheduling theory, and the way in which schedules should support the delivery of program in your school.

Historically, scheduling has been used as a tool to organize and manage the school day. In today’s world, scheduling is strategic with the capacity to shift student and faculty cultures in dramatic ways.

What are the changes that are happening in your school around technology, curriculum, and the role of teachers? How you’re your schedule enable you to become more efficient and more effective?

What we’ll explore

As with all change, any schedule change will be threatening and challenging to some constituents in your school community. We’ll explore ways to engage our teachers and ensure that they see it as supportive of mission and children. Bring your schedule along and analyze it as you work with ISM, North America’s leading expert on scheduling theory and practice.

Whichever division you are in, you will walk away with practical benchmarks and ways of thinking about your own school, your own students, and your own faculty.
