Pro-D topic: Approach to literacy - Reading Power with Adrienne Gear

Description:

Stratford Hall is pleased to host noted literacy mentor and workshop leader, Adrienne Gear, for a tandem set of workshops this year on her Reading Power approach to literacy. Adrienne has been a classroom teacher for over twenty years and has led workshop presentations throughout British Columbia. The intention in offering two workshops in tandem is that after attending the introductory workshop on Sept. 30 teachers will implement Reading Power in their classroom language arts programs. The Feb. 23 workshop provides an opportunity to reflect, troubleshoot, share successful lessons, and gain a deeper understanding of the five key strategies of Reading Power. We hope ideally to create a network of teachers using Reading Power who can share resources and collaborate.

Please see the attached file for the dates and outlines for the two workshops. Please note that each workshop is divided into a morning half-day workshop tailored to teachers of kindergarten to grade 3 and a separate afternoon workshop tailored to teachers of grades 4 to 7.

Stratford Hall can accommodate up to six teachers from fellow ISA schools in grades kindergarten to 3 and another six teachers from grades 4 to 7 for each of these workshops.
