St. Margaret’s School is seeking a dynamic individual to provide English Language Learning Support to Foundation Years students (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 4).  The successful candidate will provide direct service to identified students and co-teaching support in the classroom, as well as assess and document progress through report cards and annual education plans. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in curriculum delivery in an ELL and learning support capacity, and a familiarity with adaptive teaching strategies to accommodate various student learning styles and a wide range of abilities and interests.

Job Duties include
• Providing support to ELL students in Kindergarten through Grade 4
• Collaborating with core subject teachers to ensure strategies to provide support for ELL students
• Attending regular monthly staff meetings and school-required events
• Communicating student learning to parents including preparing student reports, developing AEPs, facilitating AEP meetings and communicating regularly both formally and informally
• Participating in school functions, including Meet the Teacher Evening, Parent-Teacher Interviews and Student Led Conferences
• Attending meetings with parents and colleagues to support the needs of the students
• Collaborating with colleagues to ensure alignment and fluidity of learning across grades, sharing ideas and planning cross-grade / cross-subject activities
• Working with the team of teachers, ELL coordinator and Principal to ensure ELL programs are tailored to meet the unique needs, interests and ambitions of SMS students.

Requirements and Qualifications include
• Current and Valid Teacher certification through the Teacher Regulation Branch or equivalent
• Undergraduate degree in English language studies or related field
• Certification in TEFL is an asset
• Knowledge of BC Ministry of Education English Language Learning curriculum (K-4)
• Several years proven experience working with ELL students
• Experience working in an inquiry-focused setting and incorporating 21st Century teaching strategies
• Familiarity with a variety of teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students
• Superior written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to participate in school-wide professional development opportunities and to attend whole school staff meetings
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Actively support the vision, mission and values of SMS
