Senior Years Teacher
St. Margaret’s School is seeking a self-motivated, dynamic and team-oriented teacher to join our small and vibrant school community. Key to this role is a motivation to work in an environment that develops competent, confident and courageous girls and an understanding of how girls learn best. Working closely with the Senior Years team, this teacher will challenge our students to thrive academically while supporting their social and emotional well-being.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic teaching professional with expertise and experience in Senior level math, SPARK science and computer studies education. Experience in motivating and engaging students with experiential, project-based and inquiry-based learning is essential to this teaching position. Proven facility in providing adaptive teaching strategies to accommodate a diversity of learning styles, abilities and interests is required.

Included in FTE is bi-weekly Teacher Collaboration, Assembly and up to a max of 4.5 hours per week of Prep Time (for full-time FTEs, pro-rated for part-time FTEs)
Commensurate with placement on the SMS Tutorial Salary Grid
This is a bargaining unit position in the Professional Employees Association

Qualifications and Competencies include
Education and Experience
Current and Valid BC teacher certification through the Teacher Regulation Branch.
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in STEM subject areas with a focus on senior level sciences.
An understanding of appropriate uses of technology in the educational setting.
Familiarity and experience teaching a diversity of learners at the secondary level.
Experience working in an inquiry-focused setting and incorporating 21st Century teaching strategies.
Familiar with a variety of teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of girls.
Superior communication, organizational and interpersonal skills in working with colleagues, parents and partners in education.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Willingness to participate in professional development opportunities.
Actively support the vision, mission and values of our school.
Job Duties include
Create, implement and deliver the redesigned BC curriculum, to senior years students.
Provide supportive, flexible routines and procedures within a culturally and intellectually inclusive classroom.
Foster the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of girls.
Set an inspiring, supportive learning environment to encourage every student in reaching her potential.
Skilled at building relationships of trust and mentorship with students.
Attend regular monthly staff meetings and school-required events.
Preparation of student reports is required, both formal written reports and regular, informal communication with parents.
Available to attend meetings with parents and colleagues to support the needs of the students in the class.
Presence at school functions is required, including Meet the Teacher Evening, Parent-Teacher Interviews, Student-led Conferences and Open Houses.
Other duties as may be required.
