Senior School English Teacher
Permanent, full-time, starting September 2019.
We are seeking a Senior School English teacher, commencing September 2019, to complement a strong and passionate English Department in the delivery of our English Language Arts program across Grades 9 to 12 and including the Advanced Placement level.
Key Responsibilities
Involvement within and outside of the department on curricular and extra-curricular endeavours in a multi-grade setting;
Communicating student learning to parents, attending staff meetings, participating on staff committees and participating in all duties associated with teaching.
Continuously reflecting on the program and with input from students, faculty and parents determine future directions;
Serving as a Homeroom Advisor to a group of students who meet regularly in homeroom for pastoral care and support;
Willingness to participate meaningfully in the extra-curricular life of the school.
Post-secondary studies in English, Literature and/or Creative Writing; Experience and familiarity with the redesigned BC Ministry of Education English Language Arts curriculum from Grades 9 to 12;
Passion for creative writing and guiding young writers;
Understanding and appreciation of a wide variety of English writing and communication skills;
Understanding of creative and innovative teaching strategies;
Experience and aptitude in integrating technology into the learning experience;
A global education perspective;
A commitment to students in the role of a homeroom advisor and within the co-curricular life of the school;
Qualification to teach Advanced Placement English courses would be a strong asset;
Past curriculum leadership experience would be a strong asset;
Evidence of, and understanding of collaboration within a dynamic educational team.
