POSITION SUMMARY
As our Maintenance Technician, you are responsible for completing minor service requests, such as lightbulb changes, painting, dry wall repairs, and minor plumbing and electrical repairs. This role also requires exterior site maintenance, including grounds keeping, power washing, window cleaning and minor landscaping. This is a full-time permanent position; hours are typically 7am to 3pm, with some weekend, evening and overtime work as needed.
 
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES  
 
I. Building Maintenance

  • Regularly inspect HVAC, mechanical, pool and electrical systems
  • Complete assigned maintenance and repair tasks, such as leaking water lines, overflowing toilets, broken plumbing fixtures and other minor repairs
  • Support Facilities Manager in emergency situations
  • Ensure a safe work site and keep equipment and power tools in good condition

II. Event Support

  • Support set up of onsite and offsite school events, including building, assembling, large staging, and seating for up to 1,000 

III. Furniture Moving and Deliveries

  • Coordinate deliveries and furniture transfers throughout the school  

IV. Exterior Grounds and Gardens

  • Snow removal, salting and snow blower operation and maintenance of walkways
  • Basic landscape work, including tending to flower beds, pruning, watering and lawn mowing 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up signage, traffic cones and barriers before and after school  
  • Assist in emergency preparedness and fire drills 
  • Participate in professional development as assigned
  • Janitorial, security, and student supervision support when required 
  • Assist contractors when on site 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum five years' maintenance experience, including experience in basic plumbing, HVAC and carpentry  
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 70 pounds)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Attention to detail and time management 
  • Fluent in oral and written English
  • Valid BC driver’s license (Class 5)
  • Clearance for a criminal record check
  • WHMIS Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate and Pool Operator Level 2 Certificate are assets
