SENIOR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Founded in 1930, St. George’s School is a leading independent day and boarding school for boys located in the world-class city of Vancouver. Nestled on two campuses close to the University of British Columbia, the School offers 1150 boys from over 18 countries worldwide, one of the most comprehensive and demanding university preparatory programs in the country. And with a newly-launched strategic plan, St. George’s is committed to developing a comprehensive 21st century, boys-centric education, while it further enhances its role as Canada’s world school for boys.

The School is currently looking for a visionary Senior School Principal. This dynamic individual will lead, nurture, and mentor over 130 faculty and staff and 760 students from Grade 8 to 12, while working with a committed parent and alumni community who support the school in so many ways.

Reporting to the School’s Headmaster, and as a member of a Senior Management Team, the Principal will work collaboratively with a number of administrative colleagues, including heads of grade and directors in the areas of athletics, arts, music, theatre, outdoor education, student services (personal and university counseling), advancement, and admissions.

The ideal candidate for this role will embrace the value of an independent,  boys-only school and be able to oversee significant change management as St. George’s continues to re-examine how it can best maximize 21st century learning opportunities for boys.

Recognized for his or her progressive teaching and coaching experience, the candidate will first and foremost be able to lead by example, while exuding passion, enthusiasm, a sense of humour, and a collaborative but decisive style of management.

The candidate should have significant teaching and administrative experience, preferably at the secondary level, proficiency using and integrating technology, and a good understanding of the British Columbia educational system and 21st century learning practices. The person must have, or be eligible for, a BC Teaching Certificate.

Ideally, the candidate should possess a Masters Degree, preferably in Educational Administration or Curriculum Development, and demonstrate that he or she is a life-long learner and true educator at heart. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in, and fully understand and appreciate the complexities of, an independent school environment.
