Temporary, Full-Time (Maternity Leave)

Mulgrave is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational school, which is committed to providing an excellent academic programme from Pre-K through Grade 12. We are now inviting applications for a temporary full time position as University / Careers Counsellor starting February 1st to June 29th, 2018. 
The main role of the Counsellor is to work alongside our two existing counsellors to provide careers education and university guidance to students in grades 8-10, with a particular emphasis on Grade 9 careers and university guidance, to enable them to make career-related decisions and to help them acquire the necessary skills to manage both their career goals and university or college applications successfully. The role will involve working with the Director of University Counselling, teachers, mentors, advisors and key staff to expand and improve the delivery of careers education, information and guidance throughout Upper School.

  • Experience of advising students on higher education choices as a careers adviser and/ or college counselor
  • Appropriate professional qualifications or equivalent
  • Fluent communication skills in English, both spoken and written
  • Well-developed counselling skills with students
  • An ability to motivate, persuade and inspire teachers, parents and students
  • Presentation and group facilitation skills
  • A well-developed understanding of information technology systems that support higher education guidance
  • A determination to develop professionally and keep up to date with developments in higher education guidance
