Rowing Team Equipment Manager

Part time term position, January 2018- – June 2018, with a possible extension
St. Michaels University School is looking for a part time (0.50 FTE) Rowing Team Equipment Manager. This position that supports the operational activities of the school’s rowing team.  Hours of work will vary depending upon operational need, and includes mornings, afternoons, weekends and regattas. On school practice days, the equipment manager will be on site from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensures rowing and safety equipment is maintained and in good condition
• Opens and closes the boathouse for the school’s arrival for practices and races
• Ensures that truck & trailers are clean, tidy and conform to policy & safety requirements
• Maintains and trailering of SMUS’s rowing and safety equipment
• Assists the Head Coach in organizing the trailer loading and unloading process
• Drives the trailer to local regattas
• Assists with site set-up and initial rigging
• Other related duties
Qualifications:
• This position requires a high school diploma along with Class 5 Driver’s license and experience driving trailers and managing equipment
• Must maintain a clean driver’s abstract
• Safety-minded, courteous, and able to demonstrate customer service
• Basic use of Microsoft computer programs such as outlook, word
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally
• Ability to problem solve, such as navigating through detours and unanticipated events
• Rowing experience, rigging knowledge and basic boat maintenance skills are assets to this position
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
