St. Michaels University School is currently seeking a Director of the Middle School, who will fully embrace the SMUS vision and mission statements and provide the School with outstanding leadership, co-ordination and communication. The Director is responsible for a staff of 30 teachers and four support staff, as well as 204 students.
 
Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of the Middle School is responsible for the academic programs, operations, and administration of the Middle School as well as the curriculum and faculty leadership. A progressive educator, the Director will ensure an enriching, caring and supportive experience for students and faculty, promoting academic excellence and innovation, and the well-being of students and faculty. Reporting to the Director of the Middle School are the Middle School Assistant Director, the Program Support Teacher, and the Personalization Team faculty member.
 
The new Director of the Middle School will have a Master’s in Education and a minimum of five years of progressive senior leadership experience in an educational setting – teaching experience in an independent middle school would be an asset. With excellent knowledge of the BC curriculum and the latest trends in educational research and pedagogy, as well as a passion and commitment to education, the Director will possess demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to inspire, mentor and support a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
