Deputy Head of School

Southridge School invites applications for the position of Deputy Head of School.

Southridge is a co-ed, K-12 independent day school situated in South Surrey, BC. The 17-acre campus
offers separate Junior and Senior School buildings with over 100,000 square feet of first-class
school facilities. Southridge has approximately 114 faculty and staff, and 680 students – 360 in
the Senior School and 320 in the Junior School. The Junior School uses the International
Baccalaureate (IB) programme to deliver course content; and the Senior School uses the Senior
School Educational Program (SSEP), with a Harkness philosophy. The curriculum provides
opportunities for authentic, experiential learning and the School’s programs and culture foster the
development of character, leadership, and skills that enable its students to realize their full
potential.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Deputy Head of School manages many aspects of the

day-to-day operations of the School, works to synchronize a clear articulation of the School’s
kindergarten to Grade 12 educational program, and oversees student services, which includes
learning strategies, social-emotional counseling and university couselling. In addition, in the
Head of School’s absence, the Deputy Head maintains overall responsibility for the operations of
the School, by ensuring that all administrative aspects are run in a manner that supports the
philosophic, academic, and strategic objectives of Southridge.

The new Deputy Head will be a respected educational leader and a proven school administrator,
preferably with a Master’s degree in Educational Administration or a related discipline, and with
teaching experience at the elementary and/or secondary school levels. A thorough understanding of
independent school culture, the Harkness philosophy, and experience with IB, specifically PYP and
MYP, would be considered assets. The Deputy Head will have a passion for the education of children
across all grades, and will be a person of character, strong values, and integrity, with a style
that allows them to connect with all members of the Southridge community.
