The Saints Institute on Teaching and Learning, June 2011

The 21st Century presents significant challenges and exciting opportunities for everyone involved in education. Teachers developing their practice through post graduate studies, professional development conferences and collaborative activities with their colleagues, and students engaging in new approaches to learning bring together expertise and energy to develop new capacity for creativity and innovation, good decision making, and leadership as well as enhancing acquisition of knowledge and skills in communication and research.

An example of the commitment of the schools of the ISABC to professional development is the Saints Institute on Teaching and Learning, sponsored by St. George's School, to be held in June 2011. By providing educators access to leading thinkers, researchers, and mentors, The Saints Institute on Teaching and Learning provides a forum for teachers to learn about real-world challenges and opportunities that confront the 21st Century Learner.

The theme of the 2011 Conference is The Connections between Brain Function and Educational Practice. Discussion topics and presenters will focus on issues relating to the brain and its development and how issues like gender, neuropsychology, and technology present both challenges and opportunities for the 21st Century Learner.
